Norman, Noble, Newcastle, Blanchard, Purcell and the south side of Oklahoma City. A Local Nerd on this side of the metro comes to your door, or helps remotely today when that's faster.
Pick a time, we come to your door, and you agree to the rate before we start. Remote help works too when that's faster.
In person from $110/hr. $39 books it, and the rest is charged when the work is done. Remote help $39 for 30 minutes. Card only, no cash or checks. You agree to the rate before we start.
Ask anything you like. We'll explain what we're doing while we do it.
If it works in one room and not the next, that's a coverage problem and it's fixable. We start by moving things around, before anybody sells you a bigger bill.
Cleanups, updates, printers that stopped printing, files you can't find, and a backup so one bad day doesn't cost you years of photos.
Getting a new TV going, tidying up the apps, and making the remote situation sane again. Then we show you the three buttons you need.
Cameras you can pull up when you need them, a doorbell that rings the right phone, a thermostat that keeps its schedule. We set it up and explain it once.
Setting up a new one, moving everything across, photos, passwords, and making the text bigger without breaking anything.
Some visits are all teaching, and that suits us fine. We go through it with you until it makes sense and you can do it on your own.
It worked yesterday and today the computer can't find it. That's a common problem, it's not something you did, and we can fix it.
We'll go through what's on there, get rid of what shouldn't be, and show you how to spot the next one.
In the older neighborhoods around campus and along Main Street, the houses are solid and the Wi-Fi can't get through them, and the fix is putting signal where the router can't reach. In the newer builds out toward Newcastle and Blanchard, the house arrives full of smart switches, doorbells and thermostats that nobody has gotten to talk to each other.
This is storm country, and for a lot of older folks here the tech that matters most is the tech that says a storm is coming. Getting weather alerts working on a phone, with the volume up, and making sure a family member two states away can check in is work we're glad to do.

We help with the everyday side: getting a laptop ready, sorting out email and printing, getting onto the right network, and setting up a backup so a semester of work isn't in one place.
Remote help is $39 for a 30-minute session. In-person visits are $110 an hour within 25 miles of downtown Norman and $130 in the 25 to 50 mile band, and the higher rate is how we pay for the drive. Yes. We go at your pace and explain things in everyday words. If you'd like to learn to do it yourself, say so when you book.
Yes, if broken means slow, glitchy, locked out, or won't do what it did last week. We don't open machines up to replace parts, and we don't recover data off a dead drive. When that's the problem, we say so and don't bill you for finding it out.
What opens a market is a Local Nerd who knows the area, likes people, and is good at explaining things. Set your own availability, keep the majority of every booking, and help your neighbors. See what being the Local Nerd in Norman involves or apply here.
