Local Nerd jobs in Broken Bow & Beavers Bend
Broken Bow is open, and the far edge of it is out of reach. In-person visits cover Broken Bow, Idabel, Valliant, Wright City and De Queen and run out to Hugo and Mena. Past fifty miles, apart from a few Texas towns, the towns out toward Texarkana and Heavener have no in-person option. This is cabin country with a year-round population underneath it, and both halves need somebody. If you live anywhere in McCurtain County or just over the Arkansas line, there's room here.
In-person visits are open in this market, and 55 of its 120 towns, Hodgen, Heavener and Monroe among them, are still out of reach. They have no in-person option today and are served remotely, by phone and screen-share. A Local Nerd here who takes those drives turns them on.
Remote help by phone and screen-share already works at every address in this market, and it's part of the job wherever you live. A Local Nerd living here adds the half that can't be done over the phone. See what customers are told on the Broken Bow page.
120 towns are measured from downtown Broken Bow: 14 within 25 miles, 47 in the 25 to 50 mile band, 59 in the 50 to 75 mile band. They sit in McCurtain, Choctaw, Pushmataha and Le Flore counties, plus southwest Arkansas and the Texarkana side of North Texas. Every market reaches 75 miles from its downtown in three travel bands, and the farther bands pay a higher hourly rate because the drive is longer. You choose which bands you take, and you can change it later.

Beavers Bend runs on rental cabins, and a rental cabin needs Wi-Fi that works for a guest who arrived at nine at night. That work is here, alongside the ordinary year-round houses in Idabel and Valliant. The catch is the terrain. Hills, trees and long county roads mean the drive is never as short as the map says, and knowing which roads go through is worth a lot here.
You keep the majority of every booking, and 100% of every tip. You see the split up front. Tips are paid out weekly with no commission taken.
You set your own availability. Open the times that suit you in Nerd HQ. A few evenings a week or full time, that part is your call.
Bookings come to you. When you're marked available, customers book your open time directly, with buffer time built in around each visit.
Nobody negotiates money at the door. Every booking takes a deposit up front and holds the card. The customer signs off on your phone at the end and the rest charges itself.
You're independent. Your own tools, any reliable and presentable vehicle, and free to work elsewhere whenever you like.
You have a team behind you. You get the Nerd HQ app, a direct line to HQ, a team that meets over video, and other Local Nerds to ask when something's strange.
Yes, especially for somebody who takes the outer band. In-person visits here reach fifty miles from downtown Broken Bow today, and past that only a few Texas towns, Deport and Cunningham among them. Everything else beyond fifty miles, including Texarkana and the towns up toward Heavener, is on remote help. That's a large piece of ground with nobody on it.
Some of the time, if you take the longer bands. De Queen is inside the first ring, Foreman, Horatio, Grannis and Wickes are in the second, and Texarkana sits in the outer one. It's measured in miles from downtown Broken Bow, so the state line doesn't change the booking or the rate.

Markets with nobody in them are listed first. If your town isn't the one on this page, it's almost certainly on one of these.
This page describes an independent contractor opportunity and is not an offer of employment. Local Nerds are independent contractors, not employees: you set your own availability, use your own tools and vehicle, and are free to work elsewhere. Compensation is a revenue share paid on completed bookings. Nothing on this page guarantees any level of income or booking volume, in this market or any other.
